In this goofy picture of Kaitlin, you can see what the old floors looked like. They were in really bad shape!
Tearing up the old floors was a dusty process, so they put up this lovely plastic between the kitchen and great room and the kitchen/dining room to keep the dust out of the rest of the house. While we appreciated not having to clean dust out of everything, it did make things quite chaotic for a couple of days. As you can see, the kitchen table was in the great room and the refrigerator was in the dining room. We also moved everything off the kitchen counters and put it on the dining room table. In order to get to our room, Keven and I had to go outside on the patio and back in through the new room. I'm so glad that Kaitlin didn't wake up in the middle of the night that night; I'm sure I would have locked myself out!
This is what the floors looked like after they tore up the old ones. When I first walked in the room, I thought the old floors were still there because the concrete slab/glue took on so much of the color of the floors. It was so sticky to walk on that you had to keep moving or your feet would get stuck!
The new floors in the kitchen...
And the laundry room (it was ugly green linoleum)...
And the new room!
It's not quite furnished yet, but furniture has been ordered and is on the way. There is going to be a desk (which is in the box on the floor) on the left wall and a bench under the windows on the right wall. We want to keep the back windows clear as much as we can so we're going to use baskets for toys. I'm still trying to decide which basket I like best. The one on the left will match the furniture really well, but I like that the one on the right brings in some other color. I was thinking I would make some bright colored liners for the baskets, but Keven said he doesn't like the liner so we'll see.

I love it all! The rug is great too! I say go with the basket on the right - it gives another texture to the room and I'm not a fan of the fabric liner either. (Just in case you wanted my opinion - if often comes unsolicited - HA!) :)
