Easter Bunny

Happy Easter!

Easter Eggs

Kaitlin and I dyed Easter eggs on Thursday. I have to say I totally under estimated Kaitlin's egg dying capabilities. I was sure that she would be grabbing at the cups and dumping out dye and throwing eggs on the ground. Kaitlin actually did great and had a blast dying eggs! The only issue we had is that she wanted to hold the eggs before they were dry. I didn't really think I'd be able to take pictures during this process so I decided to set up the video camera. I'm just posting a couple short clips because I'm pretty sure the only people who want to see the whole video are me, Keven, and maybe her grandparents!

Contest Update

We finally got the results from the photo contest and even though we know Kaitlin is the cutest little girl in town, she did not win. Thanks to everyone who voted for her!

Spring Break

Most people head to the beach for spring break, we went camping! We camped for three nights at FDR State Park in Pine Mountain, GA. It was lots of fun, but very cold sleeping in a tent. We borrowed a backpack carrier from our friends, the Farmers', so we were able to go out on a couple of hikes. Without the carrier, hiking would not have been any fun, so thank you very much Kermit, Linda, and Spencer! We also visited The Little White House and the Roosevelt Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center founded by FDR. Overall it was a great trip and I think we might actually go camping again soon! Here are some pictures:

Diaper Change

I just had to share a funny anecdote with you. I think this is probably one of the funniest things I've seen Kaitlin do. After pushing her baby around the house in her stroller, Kaitlin spread out the baby's blanket and laid the baby on top of it. I thought she wanted to swaddle the baby, so I wrapped her up in her blanket. Kaitlin promptly unwrapped her and said diaper. I asked, "do you need a clean diaper?" and Kaitlin signed baby, meaning that her baby needed a clean diaper. She went over to the changing table to get one and brought it back over. She messed with the baby and the diaper for a minute and then took the diaper over to the diaper genie and put it in (she can't really get it all the way in). She held her nose and said "pee-u" to let me know it was a stinky one and then brought the diaper back and tried to put it on her baby. I helped her put the diaper on baby and then she posed for some pictures.

Kaitlin's size 4 diapers are a little big for her baby; I think she needs some preemie size!

I think it's so much fun to watch Kaitlin learn and put things together. She is always taking us by surprise with how much she knows and can do. Yesterday, she went into the garage with me to get food for the animals. I opened the cabinet to get Simba's food and Kaitlin took the lid off Harley's treat jar, took out a treat, and put the lid back on. Needless to say, Harley got an appetizer before dinner!

Vote for Kaitlin

Kaitlin has been entered in a photo contest for a local store, Giggles & Coos. If she wins, she will be in pictures around the store and I think in some advertising. We need as many people to vote as possible so if you have a few minutes, please go to the web site and vote before the 22nd. The web site and detailed instructions are on the right side of the blog. Thanks!

Word of the Day

Kaitlin has been learning so many new words lately! It seems like she says a new word almost every day. On Sunday, it was snow. Today, she said "Mickey" for the first time while watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She was so excited about her new word and ran over to the TV pointing at Mickey and saying "Mick-ee" over and over again. It was very cute!

Kaitlin's 18-Month Checkup

I took Kaitlin for her 18-month checkup today and she did great! She stood on the scale and only cried a little bit at the end of her exam. She didn't even cry for her shots! We went to a new doctor today because we were just having to wait too long for our other doctor. We were only there for 40 minutes - yeah!!! That sure beats two hours! Anyway, Kaitlin is now 31 ½ inches long and finally hit 20 pounds (exactly)! Dr. Carter was happy with Kaitlin's weight and it is almost back on the chart at just under the 5th percentile. Hopefully it won't slip again. Well, Kaitlin's video is over so I need to go see what she is up to before she gets into trouble. Hope you are having a good day!

Snow!

So, I know this little bit of snow isn't a big deal for our friends and family up north, but this is only the second time it has snowed here since we moved to Auburn in 2003 so it's a pretty big deal for us. Kaitlin and I skipped church this morning and bundled up to play in the snow (plastic bags on our feet and all). Kaitlin was excited for a few minutes, but ended up playing on the covered patio while I built a sad little snowman (poor thing lost his head just minutes after these pictures were taken). By the time I finished she was cold and wanted to go inside. You might notice that she has no mittens on in most of the pictures. That is not because I didn't appropriately dress her; Kaitlin took them off almost as soon as we got outside! She loves to put her mittens on, but does not like to keep them on.

Georgia Aquarium

I was invited to a baby shower in Atlanta yesterday so we decided to make a mini vacation out of it. We went over on Friday and spent the night downtown. We were hoping to play at Centennial Park and walk somewhere fun to dinner, but the weather was nasty so we stayed inside and ate at the food court at CNN Center (our hotel was connected to it). We went to the Georgia Aquarium saturday morning and had fun looking at all the fish and especially the whale sharks! Kaitlin was very tired because she would not go to sleep in the hotel!
